Southern Brewers Festival
Back for the fifteenth year and bringing with it over 25 of the Southeast's most
notable microbreweries is the annual Southern Brewers Festival, presented by Big
River Grille & Brewing Works. On Saturday, August 22, 2009 from 2PM until midnight,
Ross's Landing in downtown Chattanooga will be transformed into a beer-lover's dream
as over 58 premium ales and lagers will be featured along Riverfront Parkway. In
addition to the vast selection of beers, a variety of food vendors will also be
on hand to keep patrons satisfied throughout the event. Local establishments including
Big River Grille & Brewing Works and Kenny's Smokehouse will feature signature festival-fare
including burgers, brats, hot dogs and barbeque, while others such as Yes ‘N Deed,
Miller Concessions, and Gene Garden's Philly Cheese Steak's offer visitors everything
from Cajun dishes and lemonade to Philly-style cheese steaks, fries, and more.
"We are pleased to be supporting the Southern Brewers Festival for our 7th year,"
said Ken Smith, Managing Partner of episode49. "We always look forward to working
with Gordon Biersch and Chattanooga's Kids on the Block to make this event a success."
All proceeds from the 15th Annual Southern Brewer's Festival will benefit Chattanooga's
Kids on the Block, winner of the BBB 2008 Torch Award for Workplace Ethics. For
the past 29 years, CKOB has featured life size puppets designed to teach children
and adults about social concerns and differences in a non-threatening manner, giving
them skills to stay safe and healthy. The programs are free of charge to schools
in twelve counties in Tennessee and North Georgia thanks to funding from United
Way, Tennessee Department of Children's Services, Unum, Mental Heath Association
of Middle Tennessee, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society Alliance, Chattanooga
Area Brain Injury Association, Tennessee Donor Services, individual donors and fundraising
events such as Southern Brewers Festival.
